Guest Post: Impossible Realities by Maureen Caudill

Today I am delighted to introduce you all to Maureen Caudill, author of Impossible Realities: The Science Behind Energy Healing, Telepathy, Reincarnation, Precognition, and Other Black Swan Phenomena.

I don't usually host non-fiction on the blog, but this one piqued my interest, so I invited Maureen to the blog today. Maureen go ahead and take it away!

When Is the Impossible Actually Possible?

I love a good fantasy. Bring on Sookie Stackhouse and her uber-sexy vamps and I’m doing palpitations. And what’s life without a great superhero carrying us away? Every one of Jayne Ann Krentz’s psychic mysteries is an “automatic buy” on my personal bookshelf. I particularly love her futuristic paranormal stories set on the world of Harmony (written under her Jayne Castle name).

But the problem is, those stories are fantasies.

Aren’t they?

Um…actually…maybe not.

I used to think that stuff like telekinesis (that’s spoon-bending, for example) or clairvoyance or communicating with the dead or talking to “spirit beings” should place a book automatically on the Fiction shelves. But then, a decade or so ago, after a lifetime of having not one experience I could remotely describe as “psychic” I suddenly became aware that I am psychic.

What’s more…you probably are psychic too.

In fact, I believe that pretty much everyone has the ability to do astounding, amazing, fantastic things that are worthy of the richest fantasy novel.  Hey, if I can go from “psychic zero” to “psychic,” so can you!

So that’s what IMPOSSIBLE REALITIES: The Science Behind Energy Healing, Telepathy, Reincarnation, Precognition, and Other Black Swan Phenomena is about. I considered eight different psychic skills, the four in the subtitle, plus psychokinesis, remote viewing, animal telepathy, and survival after death, and took a long, hard work at the peer-reviewed, scientific evidence that supported these skills.  I needed to understand if my crazy experiences had any basis in scientific fact.

What do I mean by “crazy experiences”?

How about the time I tried to sprout seeds in the palm of my hand and failed. Sort of. Instead of sprouting, there was a flash of light, a mild electric zap, and they disappeared!

How about the workshops I do where I pass out good-quality spoons and forks to everyone and show them how they too can feel stainless steel get as soft and as malleable as clay. (And, by the way, virtually everyone succeeds at it. It’s easy. You can do it too with a little training and half an hour of practice.)

How about the time I called  a friend of mine to whine about my knee, which was extremely sore, wouldn’t take any weight at all, was only comfortable when half-bent, and was so swollen and inflamed—despite my swallowing anti-inflammatories by the bucketful—that  it was twice its normal size and so hot you could feel the heat radiating from it. After an hour with her doing her energy healing thing and while I was on the phone with her, my knee stopped hurting, the inflammation was completely gone, I could bend and stretch my knee normally, and was able to walk comfortably on it. While it took a few days for the swelling to completely disappear, my knee hasn’t given me a lick of trouble in the 3 or 4 years since.

How about the time I did my own healing on a woman I’d never met and who was 2500 miles away, in which she reported in detail about the specific, highly unusual healing technique I’d used on her—but she reported on it in April when I didn’t do the healing till the following December. I’d changed the past!

You’ll read all about these in IMPOSSIBLE REALITIES, and much, much more. You’ll know about the powerful scientific evidence that proves almost beyond doubt that all eight of these psychic phenomena are REAL.

And that’s the bottom line message of IMPOSSIBLE REALITIES :  Psychic phenomena are not freakish, or bizarre, or even rare. You must not believe anyone who tells you they don’t exist because anyone who says that either is deliberately lying through their teeth or they haven’t bothered to look at the scientific evidence that exists. Everyone can do these things. They’re perfectly normal human abilities, even if our culture tends to suppress them and call them fantasies.

Hmm…so when I pick up my favorite fantasy novel, maybe…it’s not so much a fantasy?  If you love fantasy like I do, maybe understanding how real these skills are will help you step into those fantasy worlds, with some assurance that these “impossible” fantasies might not be quite so impossible after all.

About The Book

Impossible Realities is the first book to examine the science behind psychic and paranormal activity. A former Defense Department expert on artificial intelligence, Maureen Caudhill provides evidence for a wide range of paranormal phenomena.
Impossible Realities presents a wealth of anecdotal and empirical evidence to prove the existence (and power) of:

  • psychokinesis (most famously spoon bending
  • remote viewing
  • energy healing
  • telepathy, animal telepathy
  • precognition
  • survival after death
  • reincarnation

Caudill presents the strongest case yet for bringing paranormal phenomena from the margins into the realm of the normal and credible. This is a book both for true believers and skeptics alike.
