Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts  Stars (Red)Stars (Red)Stars (Red)Stars (Red)Stars (Red)

Wow!  What can I say? Captive in the Dark was everything I hoped for and more!

When we meet Caleb, it’s blatantly clear that he’s out for revenge. And he plans to use Livvie to exact that revenge.   Caleb has a tortured past and Livvie’s hasn’t been the greatest either.  But this isn’t some classic romance.  This is a dark, horrifying, gritty, absolutely disturbing read that will suck you in if you’re looking for something out of the mainstream.  I promise, if you can handle the dark aspects of this book, you’ll absolutely LOVE it.  It’s not a romance, it’s not fluffy and cute, and it’s not a fairytale by any means, but it will still have you loving the characters (kind of… in a weird way) and ready to read the second one right away.

Dear lord where to begin….. Well, this is another amazingly dark story.

You’ve got Lacey.  Her family treats her horribly, but she can’t help but be loyal to them and do everything in her power to keep them together.

Then you’ve got Knox… and honestly, the best way to describe him: a deranged killer. He has no issues with killing and actually feeds off of it.  Even though he is the epitome of everything bad that is hated in the world, you really can’t help but start to like him… and hate yourself for it at the same time.

I read this story in about two days. This story is so dark and horrifying that it’s essentially a car wreck that you can’t look away from.  You’ll want to walk away, but you won’t be able to.  If you enjoy dark reads, then this is another story for you.  If not, then I highly suggest that you walk the other way.

Be prepared though, there is a serious cliffhanger at the end of the book.

Her Master’s Courtesan by Lily White   Stars (Red)Stars (Red)Stars (Red)Stars (Red)Stars (Red)

Well... I'm still at a loss for words for where to start...

First, This is the warning in the book:
"This book contains graphic descriptions of sexual and physical violence. This is not a light and fluffy story. This is NOT a love story. There are no unicorns, fluffy kittens, rainbows, squishy feelings or hearts and flowers. If you are looking for love – you’ve come to the wrong place. I cannot stress that enough. If you are agreeable with these terms – please proceed and have a nice day."
This explains what you are in for RIGHT OFF THE BAT! If you are even remotely concerned about anything this warning says, walk away.
This story contains abduction, rape, abuse - physical, mental & sexual - manipulation, depravity, murder, and fear.
This is in no way shape or form a fluffy read.
On that note, I will say I LOVED it!
Master Aiden is a sick, twisted, messed up (not the phrase I want to use) individual. He is not a good guy. He is a man that captures and trains women to be slaves/courtesans. He is the best in his business and has a reputation of being the best. He's someone that you absolutely hate but wish you could love at the same time.
Rebecca is Aiden's latest conquest. She definitely surprises with the strength of character she has. She is in an incredibly difficult situation and she fights back until she eventually gives in.
This  is my classification on whether a book is dark or not. This book is the darkest I've ever seen, but it's absolutely amazing and one of the best written books I have read in a while.
Lily White is an AMAZING author that will throw you into a world you may not want to be in, but she is just that good. 😉
